Sept. 10, 2019 - After a stellar week that saw her allow only one goal and save 13 shots, North Central College women's soccer goalie
Madison Lockard has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Lockard led the way for a Cardinals team that went 1-0-1 last week, saving seven shots and only allowing one goal against Illinois Institute of Technology on Sept. 4. Her outstanding play continued on Sept. 7 against University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, saving six shots on her way to her second shutout of the season in the 0-0 tie. This is Lockard's first time winning player of the week honors.
The CCIW also picked Carroll's Kaitlyn Zanon as the Offensive Player of the Week after leading Carroll to a 2-0 record last week.
The Cardinals (3-0-1) and Lockard take on their toughest opponent this season on Tuesday, Sept. 10 in no. 19-ranked Loras College, with action at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium starting at 7 pm. Click
