Kelsey McLaurin has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Field Athlete of the Week for Jan. 13-19, earning the distinction for the second time in her collegiate career. The CCIW announced this week's award winners Tuesday.
McLaurin was honored for her contributions to North Central's first-place finish in the Cardinal Opener at Al B. Carius Track on Friday. McLaurin placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 38 feet, 10.25 inches which currently ranks first among all NCAA Division III competitors in the event this season. McLaurin also won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.38 seconds, a time which currently ranks 19th nationally.
McLaurin established the Cardinals' current indoor (39'7.75") and outdoor (38'10.50") varsity records in the triple jump in 2019 and earned Division III All-America honors with an eighth-place finish at last year's indoor national championships.
The Cardinals host the Snow Day Invitational on Friday.
