Jan. 28, 2020 - The North Central College men's track and field team has claimed its first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Athlete of the Week honors for 2020, as sprinter Michael Stanley and jumper Kendall Johnson have received this week's awards. The CCIW announced this week's winners on Tuesday.
Stanley was named the conference's Track Athlete the Week after turning in a personal-best time of 22.24 seconds to win the 200-meter dash in the Snow Day Invitational at Al B. Carius Track on Friday. Stanley's time ranks first in the CCIW and fourth nationally among NCAA Division III competitors, and ranks sixth-fastest all-time at North Central. Stanley is also part of the Cardinals' 4-by-400-meter relay team which ranks fifth nationally with a time of 3:21.91.
Johnson, meanwhile, earned the CCIW's Field Athlete of the Week honor after a personal-record leap of 46 feet, 10 inches in the triple jump. Johnson also ranks first among all CCIW triple jumpers this season, ranking 12th nationally, and owns the sixth-best mark in the program's history in the event indoors.
The Cardinals travel to Bourbonnais on Saturday for the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational at the Perry Center. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. Click HERE to follow live event-by-event results.
