Feb. 11, 2020 - For the third straight week, the North Central College men's track and field team is recognized with one of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Athlete of the Week awards, as Michael Stanley has been named the conference's Track Athlete of the Week. The CCIW announced this week's winners on Tuesday.
Stanley was selected for the award for his contributions to the Cardinals' first-place finish in the NCC Invitational on Saturday at Al B. Carius Track. He placed second in the 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 49.16 seconds which ranks as the fastest by any CCIW competitor and the fourth-fastest nationally among NCAA Division III sprinters this season. Stanley also moved into eighth place in North Central history in the event indoors. He also teamed with Maceo Findlay, AJ Lehman and Gavin Cernek to place second in the 4-by-400-meter relay in a season-best time of 3:20.02 which ranks first in the CCIW and sixth in the nation thus far.
Stanley also was named the Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 28, when he and jumper Kendall Johnson swept both awards for the Cardinals, pole vaulter/jumper Izaiah Webb was selected as the CCIW's Field Athlete of the Week last week.
