CCIW Press Release
Feb. 11, 2020 - For the second time this indoor season, North Central College women's track and field student-athlete
Kelsey McLaurin has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Field Athlete of the Week, earning the distinction for Feb. 3-9. The CCIW announced this week's award winners Tuesday.
McLaurin was recognized for her efforts in the NCC Invitational, hosted by the Cardinals on Saturday. She won the triple jump competition with a distance of 39 feet, seven inches, narrowly missing her own indoor varsity program record in the event. McLaurin ranks first among all CCIW competitors and second nationally at the NCAA Division III level in the triple jump this season. She placed eighth at the 2019 Division III Indoor Championships in the triple jump to earn All-America honors and won the CCIW indoor and outdoor triple jump titles last year as well.
McLaurin also placed second in the 200-meter dash Saturday with a time of 26.10 seconds which currently ranks her fourth in the CCIW and 30th nationally.
North Central has won a total of three CCIW Field Athlete of the Week awards this season. McLaurin was also honored with the award on Jan. 21 and
Alexandra Draves, who currently ranks 21st in Division III in the 20-pound weight throw (54'6"), was selected last week.
The Cardinals host the Pat Heenan Invitational on Friday at Al B. Carius Track. Competition is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Click
