CCIW Press Release
Feb. 25, 2020 - The final College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards of the 2020 indoor season feature North Central College student-athletes for the fifth consecutive week, as the latest Track Athlete of the Week award recognizes the Cardinals' distance medley relay quartet of Nick Licari, Michael Stanley, Brendon Sebastian and Gabe Pommier. The CCIW announced this week's winners on Tuesday.
The group became the only relay team in the CCIW to collectively earn the distinction this season after a first-place finish in the F. Lee Slick Invitational at Al B. Carius Track on Friday. The quartet clocked a finishing time of 10 minutes, 5.07 seconds to post the fastest time by any CCIW team this season and the fourth-fastest nationwide among NCAA Division III entrants.
The award is the sixth won by a North Central athlete this season. Stanley was recognized as the conference's Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 28 and Feb. 11 and distance runner Matt Osmulski was so honored last week, while jumper Kendall Johnson (Jan. 28) and jumper/pole vaulter Izaiah Webb (Feb. 4) have each been named as the Field Athlete of the Week.
The Cardinals travel to Illinois Wesleyan University's Shirk Center for the 2020 CCIW Indoor Championship Friday and Saturday. Competition is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday and 10:45 a.m. Saturday. Click HERE for meet information and live coverage options.
