Mar. 9, 2020 –  The North Central College men's lacrosse team has swept the latest installment of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week awards, as freshman attackman Riley Bachinski was named the Offensive Player of the Week while fellow freshman Jake Allgood earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts in goal. The CCIW announced its selections on Monday. 

The Cardinals amassed a 1-1 record during the week, which saw them rebound from a  tough 18-6 loss at the hands of Muhlenberg College on Mar. 3 with a 14-8 victory over Berry College three days later to end their spring break trip on a high note.

Riley Bachinski continues to impress on the young season as the team's top scorer. He found the back of the net three times on four shots in the Muhlenberg game, all of which were on target. The freshman then exploded for a career-high five goals in the team's game against Berry. With just four games under his belt, Bachinski ranks ninth in the program's history for career goals, with 16. 

Jake Allgood had a solid week in goal for the Cardinals, totaling 28 saves across the two games—16 against Muhlenberg and 12 against Berry, which marked his first career start and saw the Lisle-native post a .600 save percentage. Allgood has also quickly carved out a spot in the program's all-time top 10 list, ranking fourth in career saves. 

The Cardinals have now received nine total CCIW weekly awards. Bachinski was previously honored as the conference's offensive player of the week on Feb. 25.

North Central (3-1) hosts Trine University (4-0) on Mar. 9, with a 7 p.m. start time at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
