2019-2020 North Central College Chi Alpha Sigma Inductees
Apr. 23, 2020Â - The North Central College athletic department has announced the recognition of 88 of its student-athletes for their combined high achievement in academics and athletics throughout their collegiate careers, as the College welcomes its 13th induction class into the National College Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma.
Chi Alpha Sigma is the first and only nonprofit organization that was established to recognize college student-athletes who excel both on and off the field of competition. Founded in 1996 by then-DePauw University (Indiana) head football coach Nick Mourouzis, Chi Alpha Sigma continues to provide outstanding student-athletes with an opportunity to become connected within a fraternal association that aligns their educational and athletic successes for a lifetime. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes college student-athletes who receive a varsity letter in their sport, achieve junior academic standing or higher after their fifth full time semester, and earn a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average.Â
North Central's chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma, one of nine in the state of Illinois, was chartered in 2007 and has seen a total of 524 Cardinal student-athletes inducted. Of the 88 students recognized this year (a record number of North Central honorees in a single year), 60 are new Chi Alpha Sigma inductees, each of whom are to be presented with a bronze medallion. The 36 graduating seniors will be issued black and gold commencement cords.
More than 280 four-year collegiate institutions nationwide have chartered Chi Alpha Sigma chapters. For more information, visit
