CCIW Press Release

Feb. 23, 2021 - North Central College's Gabe Pommier has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season following his nation-leading effort in the mile run in the Cardinals' dual meet with Elmhurst University on Friday.

Pommier stormed away from the field to win by more than 13 seconds in a time of four minutes, 9.10 seconds, which eclipsed Pommier's previous best time at the distance by more than three seconds. It is the fastest indoor time at the distance by a North Central runner since four-time individual national champion Tim McCoskey '01 in 2000 and ranks third in the program's history all-time.

Pommier's time is the fastest by any NCAA Division III competitor nationwide this season by nearly three seconds.

The 11th-ranked Cardinals will host Wheaton College in a dual competition on Friday, Feb. 19 at the Al B. Carius Track. Competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
