Mar. 9, 2021 –
Moving up three spots in the D3baseball.com Top-25 Poll, the North Central College baseball team is ranked third in the latest poll released on Tuesday, the highest national rank in program history.

North Central ended the 2017 season ranked fourth by Collegiate Baseball and were ranked fifth to start this season by D3baseball.com, now sitting in the top-three for the first time.

The Cardinals (2-0) received 506 points in the poll and one first-place vote, while Trinity University (Texas) moves up two spot into the No. 1 position this week, garnering 598 points and 13 first-place votes.  California Lutheran University falls a spot to No. 2., receiving 562 points and the remaining nine first-place votes, while Chapman University (California) and Salisbury University (Maryland) round out the top five.

North Central opened the season with a doubleheader sweep of Ripon College on Sunday in convincing fashion, outscoring the Red Hawks, 24-1 on the day while hitting .383 as a team.  On the mound, the staff did not allow an earned run over the twin bill sweep, striking out a combined 29 batters while allowing only five hits.

The Cardinals return to play on Friday, Mar. 12 in a top-25 matchup with 17th-ranked Adrian College, first pitch is slated for 2 p.m. (ET) at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.
