2021 All-CCIW Men's Tennis Teams
May 4, 2021 – A pair of North Central College men's tennis players were named to the All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) teams on Tuesday, while head coach
Ryan Jump earned his second CCIW Coach of the Year award of the season.
Adding to his CCIW Coach of the Year on the women's side, Jump becomes the first head coach in school history to earn both awards in the same season, while becoming the second head coach in men's tennis history to earn Coach of the Year honors, as Mike Patrick received the award in 2009.
Two Cardinals were named to the All-CCIW teams for the first time since 2011, as
Javier Suarez Balsera earned First Team honors after posting a 5-2 record at the No. 1 singles position, facing off against each opponents' top player in every match this season.
Ramon Vilarroig Martinez earned Second Team honors this season, going a perfect 7-0 in singles play, posting a 2-0 record at the No. 2 position while going 5-0 at No. 3.
Suarez Balsera and Vilarroig Martinez also teamed up to post an unbeaten 7-0 record at the No. 2 doubles position, leading North Central to a 6-1 record over conference play this season while clinching the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCIW Championship.
The Cardinals will open play at the 2021 CCIW Championship on Tuesday, May 4, hosting eighth-seeded Carroll University at 2 p.m. at Nike Park. The semi-finals and finals will then be contested at host Elmhurst College's Brune Tennis Courts on May 7-8.
