CCIW Press Release

Naperville, Ill. September 14th, 2021 - Emma Goldman of the North Central College women's soccer team has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in helping the team go 2-0-1 last week.

The sophomore from Sycamore, Illinois helped anchor the defense in a pivotal week of non-conference soccer. After starting the season dropping two games against ranked opponents Goldman and the Cardinal defense stepped up and got the Cardinals back in the win column with wins over Aurora University and Benedictine University. The women's soccer team also had a tie against Illinois Institute of Technology on September 8th.

In the three games the Cardinals had last week they gave up 21 shots with 14 on goal, only surrendering three total goals in the three games. In a 4-0 win over Benedictine, Goldman also scored one of the teams' four goals.

The Cardinals improve to (2-2-1) on the year and look to extend their win total tomorrow night, as they host Loras College at 7 pm CT.
