Women’s Soccer Receives 2020-2021 Academic Award

United Soccer Coaches Release 

Naperville, Ill. September 24th, 2021 - The North Central College women's soccer team has been selected as a 2020-2021 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award winner. Announcement came today by College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW)

To receive the award, each school has to maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average for during the 2020-2021 academic year. There were 602 teams that received the award for last year. Of the 602 institutions, North Central was 1 of 90 that both men's and women's soccer received the award. 

The Cardinals received the award with a 3.71 GPA last year. In 2019 they posted a 9-9-1 overall record and 5-3 record in conference play. They made the CCIW Tournament in 2019 for the first time since the 2016 season. Currently the women's soccer team is 5-3-1 with conference play starting this weekend. The Cardinals have now won the Team Academic Award three years in a row. The 3.71 GPA was the highest in the CCIW for both men's and women's soccer.   

Other CCIW women's soccer teams to receive the award are Carthage College and Illinois Wesleyan University

The Cardinals improved to (5-3-1) Wednesday night and are back in action Saturday night as they take on Elmhurst University. Game time is scheduled for 8:30 pm CT.
