Jan. 15, 2022 - The North Central College women's track and field team opened the 2022 indoor season by hosting the six-team Cardinal Opener at Al B. Carius Track Saturday. The Cardinals won four events in the unscored meet.
Three of North Central's four first-place finishes came in the field events. Kathy Myrda achieved a successful clearance at 11 feet, 5 3/4 inches (3.50 meters) to win the pole vault, while Alexandra Draves won the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 52'1.25" (15.88m) and Sarah Elischer achieved a personal best with a first-place clearance of 5'1.25" (1.56m) in the high jump.
Allison Grady clocked a time of one minute, 2.73 seconds to claim first-place honors in the 400-meter dash, followed closely by teammate Fiorella Ghiorsi in second (1:02.98). Julia Babinec was a close second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.91 seconds) and added a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash (8.16). Anna Cotter also placed second in the high jump (4'9.50") and additional third-place efforts came from Lindsey Novak in the 200-meter dash (26.83) and Rachel Parthemore in the long jump (15'9.50").
The Cardinals host the Snow Day Invitational Friday at 4:00 p.m. Spectators will not be permitted but live video coverage and event-by-event results will be available HERE.
