Jan. 18, 2022 - North Central College women's track and field student-athlete Julia Babinec has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track Student-Athlete of the Week, the CCIW's first for 2022.
Babinec placed second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.91 seconds) and third in the 60-meter dash (8.16) in Saturday's Cardinal Opener at Al B. Carius Track. She made her season debut Dec. 10 at the Indiana Tech Strive for Greatness Invitational, clocking a personal-best time of 8.78 seconds which is tied for the fastest achieved by any NCAA Division III competitor thus far this season.
Babinec placed second in the 100-meter hurdles at last spring's CCIW Outdoor Championships and finished sixth at the Division III Outdoor Championships to earn All-America honors.
The Cardinals host the Snow Day Invitational Friday. No spectators will be permitted but live video and event-by-event results will be available HERE.
