Jan. 25, 2021 - North Central College track and field student-athlete Julia Babinec has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track Student-Athlete of The Week, collecting her second CCIW award in the 2022 indoor season.

Babinec efforts placed her first in two events in the Snow Day Invitational Friday at Al B. Carius Track. She posted a time of 8.75 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles which leads all of Division III as well as clocking a time of 26.24 in the 200-meter dash.  Babinec surpassed her time of 8.91 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles in the Cardinal Opener.

She joins Alexandra Draves as the only two active Cardinals to earn a CCIW Athlete of the Week honor as Draves won the award on Feb. 4th of 2020 for the weight throw.

The Cardinals travel to the Gately Indoor Track & Field in Chicago on Jan. 29 for the Aurora Grand Prix, hosted by Aurora University.
