DECATUR, Ill. (Jan. 17, 2022) - Coming off of a two-week hiatus, the North Central College men's and women's swimming and diving teams traveled to Millikin University on Saturday to compete with the Big Blue and the Lincoln College Lynx. The men's team fell to both Millikin (130-37) and Lincoln (83-51) while the women's team split with a 165-21 loss to Millikin and an 82-23 victory over Lincoln.

Both men's and women's 400-yard medley relays started the day with third-place finishes as the women's team of Emily Miehlke, Abigail Anderson, Scarlett Schuth, and Amelia Woods clocked a 4:58.08 and the men's team of Nicholas Domschke, Devin Sheehan, Gavin Sheehan, and Maciej Sporna posted a 4:34.65.

The 100-yard breaststroke proved to be the highest-scoring event on both sides as Anderson's 1:18.43 earned her a second-place finish that was later matched by G. Sheehan with a 1:14.14 also finishing in second.

On the women's side, Miehlke posted a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:22.02) followed by Lemke in fifth (2:26.11). Lemke came back for a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (6:20.83) while Amelia Woods clocked a 28.51 in the 50-yard freestyle to place fourth. 

The men's side saw Ben Laurich snag a pair of third-place performances first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.72) then, in the 500-yard freestyle (6:11.89). Domschke got a couple of fourth-place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.26) and in the 200-free (2:18.12). Sporna turned in a personal best performance in the 100-yard freestyle (57.84) after finishing fourth in the 50-yard freestyle. G. Sheehan finished third in the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.21) while D. Sheehan came in fifth (1:08.10).

The swimming and diving teams look to cap off their season at the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships in Pleasant Prarie, Wis. beginning Feb. 17 at the Pleasant Prarie Rec Plex.
