CHICAGO (Oct. 13, 2022) - The North Central College women's soccer team continues to showcase its dominance in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) play with a 6-1 victory over the North Park University Vikings on Wednesday at the Holmgren Athletics Complex.

Wasting no time from the opening whistle, Sarah Andrey picked up her seventh goal on the year with a long, hard shot that prompted a Vikings goalkeeper fumble, to put the Cardinals on the board in the fifth minute of play.

A corner kick by Kaitlyn Cannon in the seventh minute found Alaina Kuhn on the opposite side of the box, and with a header pass to Elle Sutter, North Central was quickly up 2-0. Ellie Lochbaum found the back of the net putting the Cardinals ahead by three in the 11th minute.

After a battle in the box in the 38th minute, the Vikings picked up their only goal of the match by Lina Bogg.

North Central held steady for much of the second half before the Cardinal offense ramped it up in the last quarter of play led by Morgan Verbeten's goal in the 68th minute off dual assists from Andrey and Sutter. Brooke Nelson followed suit with a goal of her own thanks to a Sam Schutte assist in the 79th minute. Sophia Hein scored the Cardinals' sixth goal of the night in the 86th minute. 

The Cardinals outshot the Vikings 20-5, putting 14 of those on goal. Jordan Boyd had two saves, bringing her season total to 36. North Central's victory marks a 10-1-2 record (3-0-1 CCIW) while North Park falls to 3-7-2 (1-2-1 CCIW).

The Cardinals have a quick turnaround as they host the Carroll University Pioneers on Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
