KENOSHA, Wis. (Oct. 8, 2022) - The North Central College women's soccer team rallied with a second-half surge to defeat the Carthage College Firebirds 2-0 Saturday night at Art Keller Field while Cardinal goalkeeper Jordan Boyd tied the program record for single-season shutouts.

A scoreless first half saw the Cardinals outshoot the Firebirds with 13 shots to the Firebirds' five. Sarah Andrey changed the Cardinal momentum in the 47th minute as she put away North Central's first goal of the night off a Madelyn Camaioni assist.

Lauren Fischer followed suit with a goal of her own in the 49th minute of play with help from Kassandra Salviola, putting the Cardinals in a 2-0 lead. North Central continued to control much of the second half, with the Cardinal defense holding the Firebirds to a total of 15 shots all game with no luck of breaking the shutout.

The Cardinals extended their overall record to 9-1-2 with their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) win over the Firebirds (0-6-5) moving to a 2-0-1 CCIW record.

Boyd took her place in the net, playing all 90 minutes and recording five saves on the night. Boyd picked up her sixth shutout on the year, good to share the program record for shutouts in a single season with Elise Manzie who set the record back in 2008.

The Cardinals head back to the Chicagoland area for their next CCIW matchup with the North Park University Vikings on Oct. 15 at the Holmgren Athletics Complex. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
