Men’s Soccer Among Nation’s Best, Ranked Tenth

United Soccer Coaches Region VIII Rankings 

Nov. 1, 2022 - Prior to their College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament Semifinals match on Wednesday, the North Central College men's soccer team cracked the Top Ten in the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25 while being ranked No. 11 in the D3Soccer.com Top 25, both organizations announced Tuesday. 

In their final installment of the Regular season Top 25, United Soccer Coaches' boosted the Cardinals up two spots to No. 10 this week. This is the highest ranking the Cardinals have received in program history. Messiah University claimed the top spot this week while the University of Chicago fell one spot to No. 2. Kenyon College remained at three while Stevens Institute of Technology was fourth and Gustavus Adolphus College rounded out the top five. 

The Cardinals climbed two spots to No. 11 this week in the D3Soccer.com Top 25. Messiah University  jumped up to No. 1 this week after receiving 979 points in the poll and 12 first place votes. The University of Chicago fell to No. 2 after drawing even with New York University while Kenyon was ranked third, Stevens Institute of Technology was in fourth and Amherst rounded out the top five. Conference rival North Park University moved up one spot to No. 13 this week. 

In their eighth installment of the Region VIII rankings, United Soccer Coaches' ranked the Cardinals second in the region behind the University of Chicago. Following the Cardinals in third is Calvin University, Conference rival North Park in fourth, Wheaton College in fifth, Milwaukee School of Engineering in sixth, Webster University in seventh and Carthage College rounding out the top eight. 

The Cardinals (14-0-4) have outscored their opponents 45-15 this season on their way to an 18 game unbeaten streak and their first CCIW Regular Season Championship since 1994. The Cardinals locked up the No. 1 seed in the CCIW Tournament and will host Carthage College on Wednesday night in the Semifinals. The action is set to start at 5:45 pm inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
