Nov. 1, 2022After seven successful weeks of competition, the North Central College men's cross country team has stayed at No. 3rd in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Week Seven National Coaches' Poll, and is the No. 1 rank in the loaded Midwest Region. The USTFCCCA announced their regional rankings on Tuesday and their national rankings on Wednesday.

The Cardinals turned in three first-place team finishes, a fourth-place, and fifth-place since the beginning of the season four weeks ago, scoring a low 21-point win at the Elmhurst University Earlybird Invitational on Sept. 2. An impressive score of 15-points and perfect score by the freshman squad--at the Forester Invitational. We placed 1st in the Spartan Classic on Sept. 10 with a score of 19 points to continue our winning streak. We placed fifth overall at the Spartan Invitational on Sept. 16 with 163 points. We placed fourth overall at the familiar Gil Dodds Invitational on Sept. 17th with 133 points. At the National Preview Meet both our Varsity team and Men's Open team placed 2nd overall with 98 points and 52 points. At the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational we placed 2nd overall with 44 points. At the Augustana College Invitational this past weekend we beat Wartburg and placed 2nd overall with 69 points to move up to first place in the Midwest Region. We turned in a first place finish and perfect score at the CCIW Championship with 9 All-Conference players led by Connor Riss

North Central came in at the No. 3 rank in the Week Seven National Coaches' Poll, while Pomona- Pitzer and MIT remain at the top at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Rounding out the top ten national rankings are North Central, UW-Lacrosse, Wartburg, RPI, Williams, Emory, Johns Hopkins, and UW-Whitewater. 

The Cardinals keep their first place rank in the Midwest region. Wartburg is at No. 2, Loras moved to No. 3, Chicago moved to No. 4, and Washington (Mo.) rounded out the top-5.

The Cardinals head to Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course, Geneva on Nov. 12th to compete in the Midwest Region Championship hosted by Aurora University.
