United Soccer Coaches Regional Rankings

Nov. 2, 2022 - The North Central College women's soccer team secured its fourth College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) this week as Ellie Lochbaum earns her second CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week. The Cardinals came in at No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches and No. 4 in NCAA Regional Rankings.

North Central currently stands at an 11-1-5 (4-0-4 CCIW) record and recently took second in the CCIW regular season. In their last CCIW matchup the Cardinals drew even at 1-1 with the Augustana College Vikings. Lochbaum served the Cardinals' sole assist while leading a defense that allowed the Vikings only four shots throughout the contest, earning her this week's Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week honor.

Calvin (15-0-1) heads the United Soccer Coaches regional rankings again this week followed by Washington (Mo.) (8-5-5) in second and North Central in third. CCIW foe, Illinois Wesleyan (8-4-3) ranks fourth while Fontbonne (14-1-2), Dominican (13-3-2), MSOE (13-3-4), and Trine (10-4-3) round out the region's top eight.

The NCAA released its regional rankings on Wednesday with Dominican leading the way, followed by Washington (Mo.) in second, Calvin in third, and North Central coming in at No. 4. Illinois Wesleyan, MSOE, and Trine completed this week's rankings.

North Central hosts the Wheaton College Thunder tonight for a CCIW Semifinal matchup at 8:15 p.m. inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
