2022 United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams
Nov. 29, 2022 - Continuing to add to its already impressive season, the North Central College women's soccer team lands its largest number of student-athletes on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region teams as
Elle Sutter,
Ellie Lochbaum,
Sarah Andrey, and
Kaitlyn Cannon claim honors. The United Soccer Coaches announced the selections on Tuesday.
Elle Sutter has been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team after leading the Cardinals with 13 goals this season — good for fourth in program history — while also recording four assists. Sutter made the All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) First Team earlier this season, marking her second-straight year earning the distinction. Sutter was named to the All-Region Third Team in 2021 as only the third Cardinal in program history to receive All-Region honors.
Joining Sutter on the First Team list is Ellie Lochbaum who was named to the All-CCIW First Team earlier this season and was recognized as the conference's 2022 Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year. Lochbaum was an asset to the North Central defensive front helping to hold its opponents to only 18 goals all season against the Cardinal's 51. Lochbaum scored four of those goals and assisted on two.
Sarah Andrey earned All-Region Second Team distinction after scoring eight goals and assisting on two this season. Andrey was named to the All-CCIW First Team after leading the conference in shots per game average (4.42). Andrey led the Cardinals with 84 shots this season and three game-winning goals. This marks Andrey's first All-CCIW and All-Region combination in her career.
Kaitlyn Cannon rounds out the Cardinal All-Region selections making Third Team this year after tallying four goals and two assists this season bringing her career total to 11 assists--good for fifth all-time. Cannon was a 2021 All-CCIW First Team selection.
North Central finished the 2022 season with a 12-2-5 record, tying for the most wins in a single season. The Cardinals have tallied the most members on the All-Region, All-CCIW and Academic All-District teams this season than ever before.
