Dec. 7, 2022 - In the last 2022 NCAA Division III men's soccer rankings of the season, the North Central College men's soccer team was ranked 14th by D3Soccer.com while coming in at No. 20 in the United Soccer Coaches' Top 25, both organizations announced on Tuesday.
The University of Chicago, the 2022 National Champions, finished the season as the top-ranked team according to D3Soccer.com. Stevens Institute of Technology was ranked second, Messiah University was ranked third, Kenyon College in fourth and Williams College rounded out the top-five. The Cardinals came in at No. 14 following a second round appearance in the NCAA Tournament. North Park University was ranked 17th in the final poll.
UChicago was ranked No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches' Top-25 followed by Williams College, the National Runner-Ups, in second, Stevens Institute of Technology in third, University of Mary Washington in fourth and Kenyon College round out the top-five. The Cardinals dropped from tenth to No. 20 after falling to St. Olaf College, the 14th-ranked team in the final top-25, 2-1 in overtime in the round of 32.
This is the first time the Cardinals have appeared in the final rankings in both National Polls after an impressive season on the pitch. North Central finished their season with a 17-1-4 record while being ranked tenth, the highest ranking in program history. The Cardinals won their first CCIW Regular Season Championship for the first time since 1994 while winning their second-straight CCIW Tournament title.
