Feb. 16, 2022 - After posting a 4-0 record on the week, Javier Suarez Balsera was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's (CCIW) Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time in his career, the organization announced Wednesday.

Suarez Balsera teamed up with Morgan Red in doubles play to beat the Coe College and Central College's No. 3 doubles teams. In singles play, he took down Jon Lansing at No. 2, 6-2, 6-3 before stepping up to No. 1 against Central to win 6-0, 6-0 over Tanner Finken. Suarez Balsera improves to 5-1 in the spring season and has won his last four matches in both singles and doubles play.

The Cardinals move to 5-1 on the year and have won two CCIW Player of the Week awards this season, with Ramon Vilarroig Martinez earning the accolade a week ago. This marks the 24th time a men's tennis student-athlete has won a CCIW Player of the Week award.

North Central hosts the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and the Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday at Naperville Tennis Club.
