Feb. 8, 2022 - North Central College women's track and field student-athlete Julia Babinec has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track Student-Athlete of The Week, collecting her third award for the 2022 indoor season.

Babinec placed first in the 60-meter hurdles dash yet again, at the Walter Cramer Invitational at Olivet Nazarene-Student Rec Center. She posted a time of 8.76 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, earning her first place. She also clocked a time of 7.96 seconds in the 60-meter dash, earning her 4th place in the event.

Babinec is one of three active Cardinals to earn a CCIW Athlete of the Week honor. Alexandra Draves won the award on Feb. 4 of 2020 for the weight throw while Lindsey Novak won last week for her performance in the 200-meter and 400-meter runs.

The Cardinals host the Pat Heenan Invitational at Al B. Carius Track on Saturday, Feb. 12.
