March 22, 2022 - Earning the first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week award for the Cardinals this season, North Central College softball pitcher Gianna Corban was named the conference's Pitcher of the Week for her performance this past week.

Corban pitched in all three of North Central's games this week as the Cardinals defeated the University of Minnesota Morris (5-0), SUNY-Geneseo (5-1), and Curry College (1-0). In her three appearances Corban posted a 2-0 record while giving up just one earned run over her 14 innings pitched, good for an ERA of 0.64. She tallied 23 strikeouts and pitched a complete game in the Cardinals' win over Geneseo.

The Morris, Ill. native is second in the nation for hits allowed per seven innings with just 2.33. Corban is 19th in the country for earned-run average at 0.58 and fourth in strikeouts per seven innings at 12.8.

North Central squares off with No. 17 Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday afternoon. Game one of the doubleheader is set for 2:30 PM at Infinity Fields in Milwaukee. You can find live coverage links to those games HERE.
