Jim Miller '86 has announced that the College is set to begin a search for a new men's basketball coach following the recent resignation of Todd Raridon, the Cardinals' head coach since 2004.
Raridon, the men's basketball program's all-time leader in coaching victories (312), will take over as the head coach at his alma mater, Hastings College (Nebraska), from which he graduated in 1980.
"We can't thank Coach Raridon enough for his remarkable leadership of the men's basketball program the past 18 years," Miller said. "His knowledge of the game is vast, he understands how to get the most out of teams and he has always pushed his student-athletes to be the best they can.
"We're sorry to see him go, but we wish him and his wife, Julie well and will always consider them Cardinals at heart."
Raridon's 2005-2006 team won the first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament, a title North Central teams have won four more times since. The Cardinals appeared in eight NCAA Division III Championship tournaments under Raridon's watch, including a trip to the national semifinals in 2013. North Central was poised to host Washington University in St. Louis in the round of 16 of the 2020 NCAA Tournament before the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cardinal men's basketball players earned six All-America awards, 25 All-Region nods and 43 All-CCIW accolades in Raridon's 18 seasons at the helm.
North Central finished the 2021-2022 season with an overall record of 17-10, reaching the finals of the CCIW Tournament.
