Apr. 13, 2022 - Earning his second College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Week award of the season, Ramon Vilarroig Martinez of the North Central College men's tennis team claims the Cardinals' fifth conference weekly award this year.

On Friday, Vilarroig Martinez downed Tomas Bella of Elmhurst 6-1, 6-0 in singles play and teamed up with Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-2 on the way to a 9-0 win over the Bluejays. In their final match of the week, he posted two more wins to propel the Cardinals to another 9-0 win in conference play, this time over Augustana College. Vilarroig Martinez has won 11 doubles matches in a row and 10 of his last 11 singles matches.

This is his second CCIW Player of the Week award this season as Morgan Red, Andy Hinch, and Javier Suarez Balsera each have earned the award throughout the year. This marks the 27th CCIW weekly honor for North Central since 2008.

The Cardinals host Carthage on Friday in a vital conference match. The contest is set for an 11 AM start time.
