Apr. 14, 2022 - North Central College head football coach
Brad Spencer '04 has announced the addition of Joe Fehrle '18/M '20 as the Cardinals' new tight ends coach.
Fehrle, an All-American offensive lineman and former graduate assistant coach for North Central, is the first full-time tight ends coach in the program's history.
"Joe was a great player and graduate assistant for us," Spencer said. "Tight end is a dynamic position in our offense and to have someone here that can recruit and coach those student-athletes every day will be a great addition to our staff."
Fehrle started 42 of 44 games for the Cardinals from 2014-2017, earning three All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) selections as well as All-America honors from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), Associated Press and D3football.com as a senior.
During the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Fehrle assisted with the coaching of the team's offensive linemen and was on the field when the Cardinals secured their first NCAA Division III national championship, a 41-14 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl at Shenandoah, Texas.
A native of Rockford, Illinois, Fehrle graduated from North Central with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 2017 and earned his MBA with an emphasis in accounting, also from North Central, in 2020.
Spencer has also announced that North Central offensive line coach
Eric Stuedemann '07 has been promoted to the position of offensive coordinator. Stuedemann will continue to coach the Cardinals' offensive linemen.
The Cardinals begin their quest for a third straight Stagg Bowl appearance Sept. 10, when they open the 2022 campaign at Wabash College (Indiana).
