2022 CCIW All-Conference Men's Tennis Team

Ramon Vilarroig Martinez of the North Central College men's tennis team has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Player of the Year while head coach
Ryan Jump was named the CCIW Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Adding to the accolades,
Javier Suarez Balsera (first team) and
Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez (second team) were also selected to all-conference teams.
Posting a perfect 7-0 record, Vilarroig Martinez was the lone No. 1 singles player to finish conference play undefeated. In doubles play, he remained unbeaten with a 6-0 record, playing alongside teammate Gonzalez Fernandez. He becomes the first Cardinal since 2011 to be named CCIW Player of the Year.
Leading his team to 11 straight CCIW wins, Jump put the Cardinals in position to be the No. 1 seed for the upcoming CCIW Tournament. Suarez Balsera went 5-1 in conference play for both No. 2 singles and No. 3 doubles with teammate Morgan Red. Gonzalez Fernandez played to a 7-0 doubles record with Vilarroig Martinez in CCIW play while going 2-2 in singles play.
Andy Hinch, a senior from Joliet, Ill., was North Central's recipient of the RESPECT Award this season. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution, and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture.
The Cardinals are the No. 1 seed in the CCIW Championships beginning on May 5th in Kenosha, Wis. They take on the No. 6 seed in Carroll University at 9 AM at Smeds Tennis Center.
