Cardinals Place Fifth at Spartan Invitational

East Lansing, MI. (Sept. 16, 2022) – A sunny morning race at Forest Akers Golf Course where North Central College men's cross country team saw four of its student-athletes place in the top-50. The Cardinals turned in a score of 163 points to place fifth at the Spartan Invitational on Friday.
 

The first runner to complete the eight-kilometer course was Grand Valley's Tanner Chada in a time of twenty four minutes, and three point seven seconds. Not far behind was John Carroll's Alex Phillip (24:29.11) who placed second, Michigan State's Aden Smith (24:35.54) in third, UNA- Michigan State's Carlee Stimpfel (24:40.50) in fourth, and Kent State's Joe Farley (24:45.45)  to round out the top five.
 

The first Cardinals to reach the finish line were Max Svienty (25:01.72) placing thirteenth overall, Julian Higueros (25:31.61) placing thirty-fourth, Connor Riss (25:33.49) placing thirty-sixth, and James McGlashon (25:45.55) placing forty-sixth to conclude North Central's top four finishers.
 

Finishing in first place behind Grand Valley was Cincinnati with 49 points, Michigan State placed third with 115 points, Kent State in fourth with 162 points, and North Central placing fifth with 163 points. 
 

The Cardinals head to the Gil Dodds Invitational on Sept. 17 hosted by Wheaton College.
