Sept. 18, 2022 - The North Central College women's soccer program produced an impressive showing at their 2022 Senior Day, defeating the Knox College Prairie Fire 5-1 inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium Sunday afternoon. 

The Cardinals picked up their first goal of the game in the second minute of play off a corner kick continuation where Elle Sutter took a shot, hitting the crossbar, but connecting with Lauren Fischer in front of the net for a perfectly placed goal in the bottom right corner. 

Another successful corner kick by Kaitlyn Cannon in the sixth minute of regulation found Alaina Kuhn on the opposite side of the goal, as she headed the ball just out of reach of the Prairie Fire goalkeeper to give the Cardinals an early 2-0 lead.

Sutter put up back-to-back goals in the 26th and 29th minutes off of rebound shots in the box while Sophia Hein was credited with both assists.

The Prairie Fire utilized quick ball movement to find Sarah McCracken in a prime scoring opportunity, putting the ball away for Knox's only goal of the game. 

After leading 4-1 for most of the second half, Cannon out-maneuvered two defenders in the 77th minute lofting a goal to the top of the net, extending the Cardinal lead to 5-1 and prompting a Knox goalkeeper substitution. 

North Central took 46 shots, 21 being on goal while Knox took only one shot. 

North Central travels north to Oshkosh, Wis. on Wednesday, Sept. 21 for their final non conference matchup of the season against the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Game time at J.J. Keller Field is set for 7 p.m.
