Women's Soccer Shuts Out UW-Oshkosh 5-0

OSHKOSH, Wis. (Sept. 21, 2022) - The North Central College women's soccer team extended its record to 7-1-1 on Wednesday after shutting out the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh 5-0 at J.J. Keller Field. 

Sarah Andrey picked up two Cardinal goals in the opening half of regulation. The first goal came in the fifth minute of play, setting the momentum for the rest of the competition before scoring again in the 21st minute. 

Ellie Lochbaum used a penalty kick opportunity in the 53rd minute to put the Cardinals up 3-0 with plenty of time still on the clock. Lochbaum moves to 2-2 on penalty kick attempts this season. 

Freshman forward, Sophia Hein extended the Cardinal lead in the 63rd minute off an assist by Sam Shutte, putting North Central ahead 4-0. Shutte picked up her second assist of the evening when she set up Elle Sutter for Cardinals final goal in the 71st minute. 

North Central's stellar defense held UW-Oshkosh to a mild four shots with only one shot on goal while the Cardinals totaled 28 shots, 17 of which were on goal. 

The Cardinal goalkeeper, Jordan Boyd, played all 90 minutes in the net with one save, bringing her season total to 23 saves and securing her fourth shutout of the season.

North Central is set to begin conference play on Saturday, Sept. 24 as they take on the Elmhurst University Bluejays at Langhorst Field. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
