ELMHURST, Wis. (Sept. 24, 2022) - The North Central women's soccer team claimed its first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) win in dominating fashion as they took down the Elmhurst University Bluejays 6-1 on Saturday moving to an 8-1-1 record and a four-game win streak.

Elmhurst opened up the competition with the first goal of the game in the 15th minute. The Cardinals defense managed to hold off the Bluejays for the remainder of the match allowing only three goals throughout the 90 minutes of play.

Elle Sutter scored three of the six Cardinal goals, with the first coming off an assist by Sarah Andrey in the 18th minute. Morgan Verbeten closed out the first half with an unassisted goal in the 23rd minute to bring the score to 2-1.

Five minutes into the second half, Sutter returned for her second goal of the night off a Hanna Dahlk assist. Sophia Hein scored in the 66th minute thanks to Sam Schutte setting her up with an assist to bring the score to 4-1.

In the final three minutes of play, Yazmin Martinez connected with Sutter in the 87th minute just before Andrey scored an unassisted goal of her own in the 89th minute to conclude regulation play 6-1.

The Cardinals took 41 shots against the Bluejays with 23 shots on goal. Jordan Boyd had two saves on the evening. Sutter's three goals put her at 11 goals on the season, good for fifth all-time for goals in a single-season.

The Cardinals host their next competition against the Wheaton College Thunder on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
