Springfield, Mo (Oct. 16, 2023)– The North Central College women's triathlon team competed in the USA Triathlon West Regional Qualifier. The Cardinals would go on to sweep the top three positions for Division III as well as four All Region competitors. 

Hailey Poe is the first Cardinal leading the podium sweep. Hailey would dominate from the start as she had the fastest swimming time of 11:12 over 750 meters. She would build upon this with a 34:05 bike time over 12.4 kilometers, as well as a 20:33 five kilometer run time, all of which were the fastest. Her cumulative time would be 1:07:55.04. Charlotte Kumler is the second Cardinal with respective times of 11:31, 34:18, 22:25 for a total time of 1:10:25.47. Bethany Smeed would complete the Cardinal sweep with times of 12:21, 35:21, 21:06 for a total time of 1:11:04.13.  

The fourth finisher is Scarlett Schuth as she had times of 12:56, 35:35, 20:54 for a total time of 1:11:41.34. The fifth finisher for the Cardinals Is Taylin Lemke with collective times of 13:22, 39:15, 24:02 to have a time of 1:19:17.26.  

The Cardinals would come back with four All-Region selections with Hailey Poe, Charlotte Kumler, Bethany Smeed, and Scarlett Schuth.  

The Cardinals in their next competition look to defend their national title in the The USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championships will take place November 11th in Tempe, Arizona.
