Oct. 17, 2023 – The North Central College women's soccer team swept the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) awards for offense (
Elle Sutter) and defense (
Kassandra Salviola), as they fall one slot to No. 24 in the nation.
In the United Soccer Coaches' Region VIII, the Cardinals held firm at third following behind Calvin University (12-0-2) at second and Washington University (12-0-0) at first. This marks their fourth straight week holding the slot.
While falling one slot in national rankings, North Central (13-2, 5-0 CCIW) broke their record for most wins and shutouts in a single season off the efforts of Sutter and Salviola.
The Cardinals earned their first CCIW defensive player of the week award of the season as Salviola, anchored the defense in two straight shutout wins against North Park University (3-0) and Carroll University (2-0).
On the offensive side Sutter earned her third offensive player of the week award while scoring both goals against Carroll and an insurance goal against North Park.
These titles marked the teams first CCIW award sweep since the 2021 season, when Sutter and
Jordan Boyd held the title.
The Cardinals continue to lead nationally in goals, assists, and points with a perfect conference record of 5-0.
