Waverly, Iowa (Nov 12, 2023) - The North Central College women's cross-country team competed in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional. The team placed fifth overall.
The first Cardinal to cross the tape in the 6,000-meter race was Julia Benes running a time of 22 minutes and 25 seconds. Benes finished 28th overall.
The other scoring Cardinals were Lily Anderson running 23:19 placing 46th overall, Nicole Brandy running 23:22 to place 49th, Segilola Smith-Pariola running 23:33 placing 56th, and Alayna Ruach running 23:39 placing 62nd overall. The Cardinals had an average time of 23:17.
Coming into the meet the Cardinals were ranked No. 9 in the region but finished in fifth place. Finishing ahead of them were Wartburg College in first with 37 points, University of Chicago in second scoring 47 points, Central College in third with 84 points, and Washington University in St. Louis in fourth with 88 points.
The Cardinals will see if they get a bid to the NCAA National Championship on Sunday Nov. 12 on ncaa.com at 3pm.
