Nov. 22, 2023 - The North Central College women's wrestling team sent two wrestlers to University Park, Penn., for the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic Tuesday, Nov. 21.
 
Sydney Petzinger and Yele Aycock traveled to the campus of Penn State University to take on nationally ranked opponents.
 
In the 116-pound weight class, No. 2 Petzinger took on No. 1 Samara Chavez of King University. Familiar opponents in the ring, Petzinger defeated Chavez in the 2022 NCWWC semifinals, while Chavez got her revenge in the 2022 U20 World Team Trials.
 
Petzinger was down 4-0 early before battling to get a takedown, cutting Chavez's lead in half. They traded takedowns making it 6-4 at the break between periods. After a long battle, Petzinger fell to Chaez by a pin in the second period.
 
In the 136-pound weight class, it was a rematch of the 2023 136-pound Championship Match, NCAA No. 1 Aycock versus NAIA No. 1 Adaugo Nwachukwu of William Penn University. Aycock went down 4-0 early in the first period but continued to fight. Late in the second Aycock scored two points to go into the break. She took the momentum into the second period and scored a four-point takedown. However, Nwachukwu's coaches challenged the takedown call but ultimately lost, giving Aycock another point. With 22 seconds left Nwachukwu scored a takedown and gave herself a 11-7 win.
 
North Central is set to host fierce competition at the North Central College Invitational Dec. 10 inside Residence Hall/Recreation Center.
