Stevens Point, Wis (Nov. 4, 2023) -Â The North Central College women's wrestling team started the season off with a dominating 26 wrestlers placing in their weight class.

In the 101-pound weight class,
Maddie Avila received a bye in the quarterfinals in the first round of the 101-pound bracket before taking down Ixzayana Cruz (Morton) by a 10-0 technical fall. She continued her success on the day by picking up her second technical fall over Gabriella Motz in a 10-0 win to earn first place.

In the 109-pound weight class,
Angelina Graff picked up her first win of the day as she defeated Alexandria Koep of Iowa Lakes Community College with a 12-2 technical fall. Graff fell in the semifinals in a close match against Alexis Winecke (Wisconsin Stevens Point) by 10-9 decision. In the consultation semifinal, Graff only needed 38 seconds to pin Mia Moore of Aurora University. Graff finished the day in third place with a technical fall over Lynsey Light (Albion).

Kendra Ryan started her day off with a pin against Mia Moore (Aurora University) in 20 seconds before taking on Lynsey Light of Albion University, defeating her with a 10-0 technical fall. Ryan finished the day in first place with a 10-0 technical fall over Alexis Winecke (Wisconsin Stevens Point).

In the 116-pound weight class,
Janessa George won her first match of the day against Brianna Derouin from Wisconsin Stevens Point with a 10-0 technical fall. George dropped her next match in the quarterfinal against Abby Nelson (Wisconsin Stevens Point) by a close 7-6 decision. George was able to bounce back against Sharon Moreno (Aurora University) with a pin in one minute and 34 seconds. George only needed 21 seconds to pin Ady Lundquist of Sioux Falls. George continued her success against teammate
Amaya Yoshizumi by defeating her with a pin in two minutes and 25 seconds. Picking up her fourth pin of the day and a third-place finish against Abby Nelson from Wisconsin Stevens Point in two minutes and 19 seconds.

Sydney Petzinger started her day with a dominating win over Trinity Valentine-Walczak (Northern Michigan University) with a 10-0 technical fall. In her quarterfinal match, Petzinger defeated Addison Drews of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a 12-0 technical fall. Continuing her success, Petzinger took on Wisconsin Stevens Point Abby Nelson, winning by a 10-0 technical fall to advance to the championship match. In the finals, Petzinger dominated Rose Ann Marshall (Wisconsin Stevens Point), defeating her by a 10-0 technical fall and earned herself the 116-pound title.

In the 123-pound weight class,
Amani Jones received a bye in the first round. Before defeating Reianna Ogden of Sioux Falls by pinning her in two minutes and 30 seconds. In the quarter finals Jones took on teammate
Dakota Drew, defeating her by pinning her in one minute and 42 seconds. She only needed 18 seconds in her semifinal match to pin Zhivanna Magdalena of Northern Michigan University. In the finals, Jones took on her former teammate Mateah Roehl (Unattached) defeating her with a 11-0 technical fall. Jones finished the day in first place, tallying three pins and a technical fall to start off the season.

Asia Nguyen-Smith received a bye in the first round before pinning Carthage's Karla Topete in one minute and 12 seconds. She went on to defeat Bethany Regione (Aurora University) with a 10-0 technical fall. In the quarterfinal match, Nguyen-Smith would fall to Roehl in a close 10-9 decision. Next, she took on teammate
Dakota Drew, defeating her with a 10-0 technical fall. Nguyen-Smith ended the day in third place after taking down Bethany Regione (Aurora University) with a 10-0 technical fall.

Sara Sterner started her day off with a bye. She would only need 58 seconds before pinning Danielle Ruiz (Albion) in the second round. In the quarter finals, Sterner defeated Lillie Banks (Unattached) with a 10-0 technical fall. Sterner dominated Ngao Shoua Whitethorn (Wisconsin Stevens Point) with a pin in three minutes and 49 seconds. In the finals, she fell to Alexis Janiak of Aurora University, taking home second place.

Salome Walker received a bye in the first round before defeating Telia Peters (Sioux Falls) with a 11-0 technical fall. Walker took on Caitlyn Kelley of Wisconsin Stevens Point with a 10-0 technical fall prior to falling against Janiak in the semifinals. Yele Aycock started the day off with a bye. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Sharon Leon (Northern Michigan University) with a 10-0 technical fall. In the semifinals, Aycock took on teammate
Taylor Graveman, defeating her in a 10-3 decision. She went on to take on another teammate,
Alondra Morales, in the first-place match. Aycock would defeat Morales in a 8-0 decision, taking home first place.

Morales received a bye in the first round before defeating Natasha Markoutsis of Aurora University with a 14-4 technical fall. In the semifinals, she defeated Amor Tuttle (Wisconsin Stevens Point) with a 10-0 technical before falling to Aycock in the final match. Morales ended the day in second in the 136-pound weight class.

Sydney Park. Graveman pinned Park in four minutes and two seconds before falling to Aycock in a 10-3 decision. In the consolation semifinals, Graveman only needed one minute and 20 seconds to pin Natasha Markoutsis of Aurora University. She defeated Tuttle with a 10-0 technical fall, taking home third place.

Riley Aamold started the day off pinning Jennifer Villagomez of Carthage College in only 19 seconds. She went on to defeat Anna Strand (Wisconsin Stevens Point) with a 10-0 technical fall. Aamold then took on teammate
Sara Sulejmani, defeating her with a pin in two minutes and 21 seconds. Aamold took on Lauren Louive (Unattached) but fell to Louive in a 15-6 decision, taking home second place.

London Houston started the day off with a bye. In round two, Houston only needed 32 seconds to pin Danielle Lopez (Northern Michigan University). She took on Antonia Phillips of Aurora University, defeating her with a 12-0 technical fall. In the semifinals, Houston took on teammate
Tiera Jimerson, defeating her in a 11-0 technical fall. Houston finished the day in first place by defeating Nina Makem (Augsburg University) in a 4-4 decision.

Jimerson received a bye in the first round before defeating Al Ghala Al Radi (Lakeland University) with a 11-0 technical fall. She went on to defeat Claire Matthews of Wisconsin Stevens Point, only needing 20 seconds before pinning Matthews. Jimerson fell to Houston before defeating teammate
Shelby Ottum with a 10-0 technical fall. Jimerson took home third place after defeating Noellle Gaffney of Northern Michigan University with a 4-1 decision.

Fiona McConnell started the day off with a bye before pinning Abigail Swanson (Northern Michigan University) in one minute and 55 seconds. She took on Mackenzi Konanz of Aurora University, defeating her with a 8-2 decision. McConnell dropped to Jade Herzer (Wisconsin Stevens Point) in the final (10-0 technical fall), taking home second place.

Brittyn Corbishley received a bye in the first round. She took on Zoe Adams of Sioux Falls, defeating her with a 10-0 technical fall. In the semifinal match, Corbishley pinned Brooke Huffman (Unattached) in two minutes and six seconds. She took home first place after pinning
Tatum Heikkila in two minutes and 33 seconds.

Caroline Ward started her day off with a bye before defeating Melissa Jacobs (Augsburg University) with a 10-0 technical fall. She fell to Heikkila in the semifinals in a 3-1 decision before defeating Logan Ryan of Albion in a 6-0 decision. Ward defeated Huffman in a 8-2 decision, taking home third place.
