Apr. 19, 2023 - Natalie Bassett of the North Central College women's tennis team earns her fourth career College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Tennis Player of the Week award after posting an 6-0 record at the Midwest Invitational.

In doubles play against Grinnell College, Bassett and Penados won with a commanding 8-2 set score. Bassett carried on at No. 2 singles, winning a tiebreaker in the first set (7-6) and winning the second set 6-4. 

Later in the afternoon, the doubles duo continued their success with a 8-1 win over UW Stevens Point. Bassett then went on and won her singles match against Tristin Jantz, with an assertive 6-0, 6-1 win. 

The final day of the invite, Bassett and Penados took on Autumn Bruno and Cassie Lee from University of Wisconsin Whitewater. The pair defeated Bruno and Lee in an 8-3 win. In singles, Bassett went on to complete her perfect weekend with a three-set match against Gianna Nikoleit (6-4, 4-6, 11-9). 

Bassett is currently ranked 17th in the region in singles play and ranked 7th in the region in doubles play with Penados. 

The Cardinals will host Elmhurst University at Nike Park on Thursday with match play starting at 8 a.m.
