NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Apr. 25, 2023) - Following an impressive performance which helped his team knock off a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) rival, Jake Paris of the North Central College men's lacrosse team was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. 

Paris, a junior long stick midfielder from Fishers, Ind., played a crucial role in the Cardinals 14-8 win over Carthage College on Saturday, April 22. Paris was a part of the face-off unit that went 14 of 23 against a fierce Carthage unit that has a .605 faceoff percentage this season. Paris scooped up a team-high six ground balls on the wing in the Carthage win while causing one turnover and picking up two ground balls in the Cardinals 25-2 win over Carroll University on Wednesday. 

Paris and the Cardinals welcome Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday, April 26 for a battle of the top two teams in the CCIW. The winner will be crowned the conference's regular season champion. The opening face-off is set for 7 pm inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
