Herubin, Mlinarich Highlight Seven All-CCIW Selections

2023 Men's Lacrosse All-CCIW Teams

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (May 3, 2023) - Seven members of the North Central College men's lacrosse team were honored by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) as they were named to the 2023 All-Conference team while Trenton Herubin and Dylan Mlinarich were named Co-Defensive Players of the Year. 

Jake Allgood received All-CCIW honors for the second time in his career as he was named a first-team selection this season. Allgood has led the Cardinals in net this season posting a 6-5 record while tallying 109 saves for a .509 save percentage. Allgood is the career leader for saves with 387, ranks third in save percentage (.528) and fourth in goals against average (10.08). 

Senior Nick Rubino became the programs second three-time All-CCIW selection as he earned a first-team nod for the first time in his career. Rubino ranks second in goals for the Cardinals this season as he has found the back of the net 33 times while dishing out 23 assists for a team-high 56 points. Rubino ranks second all-time for goals (100) and points (159) while ranking fourth for assists with 59. 

Herubin accompanies Rubino as another three-time All-CCIW selection as he was named a first-team selection for the third time in his career. Herubin has been the anchor on the Cardinals defense this year, causing a team-high 22 turnovers while scooping up 38 ground balls. Herubin's defensive efforts this season led him to become the first player in program history along with Mlinarich to be named the Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He ranks fourth all-time for caused turnovers with 76 and sixth all-time for ground balls with 126 in his career. 

Transfer Miles Rathell earned his first CCIW honor as he was named a first-team selection. Rathell has helped the Cardinal defense limit their opponents to 9.6 goals per game and a .260 shooting percentage. Rathell has caused seven turnovers this season while scooping up 21 ground balls. 

Mlinarich wraps up the first-team honorees as he earned the distinction for the second time in his career. Mlinarich has been a dominant defensive midfielder for the Cardinals which earned him Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors with Herubin. This season he has caused nine turnovers and has scooped up seven ground balls. He ranks tenth all-time for caused turnovers with 25 while scooping up 28 ground balls in his career. 

Jack Moran was named a second-team selection for the second time in his career. The senior midfielder has scored 23 times this season while dishing out 28 assists for 51 total points. Moran is the all-time leader for assists (82) and points (167) while ranking sixth all-time for goals with 85. 

Tom Eberhardt earned his first All-CCIW selection as he was named to the second-team. Eberhardt has been a threat on the offensive end for the Cardinals, scoring a team-high 47 goals while dishing out three assists. In just his three years in a Cardinals uniform, Eberhardt is the all-time leader for goals with 134 and ranks fourth all-time for points with 146. 

The CCIW also announced the nine winners of its RESPECT Award for the season. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution, and their community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration, and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture. North Central's RESPECT Award honoree is junior Zach Kuyava

The Cardinals look to defend their 2022 CCIW Tournament Championship as they host Transylvania University on Thursday, April 4 in the semifinals of the CCIW Tournament. The opening face-off is set for 7:30 pm inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
