ITA DIII Women's Tennis Scholar Teams

July 12, 2023 - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has named six North Central College women's tennis student-athletes as Scholar Athletes for the 2022-23 season. The team also earned academic honors from the ITA for the sixth straight season.

To qualify for ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition, student-athletes must earn a varsity letter, have a cumulative GPA of 3.50, and have been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters. For teams to earn academic honors, they must have a cumulative GPA or 3.20 or higher. Liveta Ezerskis, Anna Fox, Laura Fox, Kayla McSweeney, Nina Patience, and Kaeli Smashey all earned individual honors for the Cardinals. 

North Central swept its way through conference play with an 8-0 record before winning the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament. After defeating Hope College, 5-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the Cardinals bowed out of their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance. Abigail Penados became the first Cardinal in program history to compete in the NCAA DIII Singles Championships. 

The Cardinals open the 2023-2024 season on August 26th as they host the North Central Invitational.
