CHICAGO / BOURBONNAIS, Ill. / WHITEWATER, Wis. (Jan. 27, 2024) – The North Central College men's track and field team competed and achieved multiple top-three finishes over the weekend at the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational, Blue Demon Alumni Classic, and Squig Converse Invitational.
Marcus Caselberry topped his previous 200-meter dash time of 22.05 seconds shaving it to 21.99 seconds moving him to second in the program's all-time top ten just .02 seconds behind Greg Memmersheimer the current record holder. This time placed Caselberry second overall in Chicago while topping his previous freshman record time. Caselberry also placed fifth in the 60-meter run with a 7.05.
North Central went on to claim a ninth-best all-time top-ten time with
Lucas Hoffman's 800-meter run of 1:54.43 which put him sixth overall at the event.
Keydric Fulton-Wilson represented the Cardinals in second in the 300-meter dash clocking in at 36.35 seconds. Competing in the 400-meter dash,
Jake Juneau took second (51.49) and
Tyler Piron followed in third (51.79). Anthony Eddy achieved second place in the mile run with a time of 4:25.14. The Cardinals also placed second in the mile run in Bourbonnais with
Ishaan Patel's finish of 4:30.75 followed by Kal Hoppe in third with 4:31.33.
On the field events side in Chicago,
Jayden Leise took a third-place position with a height of 13.64 meters (44 feet, 9 inches) in the triple jump.
Anthony Zajac snagged third in the weight throw with 15.87m (52' 0.75") and a fourth-place shot put of 14.05m (46' 1.25"). In Bourbonnais, Cole Oleson achieved a second-best high jump of 1.87m (6' 1.50").
At Whitewater, the Cardinals sent
Braden Nicholson (8:33.46) and
Max Svienty (8:34.58) who took home a sixth and seventh best time.
North Central travels back to Olivet Nazarene University to compete in the Walter Cramer Invitational on Feb. 2nd at the Perry Center.
