Jan 27, 2024 - North Central College men's wrestling team competed in the Pete Willson Invitational. They finished in tenth place out of 32 teams and had four individuals place in the top 10 of their weight classes.
In the 125-pound class, Ethan Spacht finished sixth place and scored 11 points for the team. Spacht won his first three matches, two of them coming off decisions. Spacht's third victory came with a pin over Jesse Johnson (Milwaukee School of Engineering) in 2:07.
Julian Valtierrez finished seventh in the 133-pound class and scored 10.5 points for the team's overall total. Valiterrez's first two matches were decided with a major decision to get him into the quarterfinals. In his fourth match of the day Valtierrez pulled the 8-5 sudden victory over Jackson Rustad (University of Chicago). In Valtierrez final match of the day won with a pin over Desmond Diggs (Mount St. Joseph University).
The 141-pound class featured Josh Robison as he finished eighth place and scored nine points for the team. Robison started his day off with a 16-1 technical fall. Robison followed this up with a 13-6 decision over Max Sanderfoot (Milwaukee School of Engineering). His final victory of the day came with a pin over Art Martinez (Case Western Reserve) at exactly seven minutes.
Cole Cervantes for the 184-pound class placed second and had 21.5 points for the team. Cervantes won his first match with a 21-1 technical fall over Gavin Graham (Milwaukee School of Engineering). He followed this up with a pin in 5:46. In Cervantes third match of the he won in a 14-8 decision over Connor Collins (Wisconsin-Eau Claire).
North Central take to the mat again as they take on conference opponent Aurora University at Aurora on Feb 6.
