2024-25 NCAA Women's College Wrestling Rankings
Oct. 10, 2024 - The North Central College women's wrestling team has 11 individuals ranked in the Flowrestling 2024-25 NCAA Women's College Wrestling Preseason Rankings, including
Amani Jones, who sits in first-place for the 123-pound division.
Jones tallied an overall record of 24-1 in the 123-pound weight class last season. Jones earned national championship status and All-American honors at the Cliff Keen National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships in the 2023-24 season for the first time in her collegiate career. Jones also finished first at the Region IV Championship and the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships. Jones was also named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the CCIW Championships.
Maddie Avila comes in at the third-ranked spot for the 103-pound division. Avila posted a record of 27-6 last season while earning first at the CCIW Championships and the Region IV Championships. Avila earned fourth at nationals and All-American honors at the 2023-24 national championships.
Both
Kaelani Shufeldt and
Kendra Ryan were ranked in the 110-pound division. Fourth-ranked Shufeldt came to the Cardinal team after transferring from Lock Haven University. Shufeldt was Lock Haven's first two-time All-American and national finalist in the program's history. Ryan was ranked sixth after finishing fourth at the national tournament with All-American honors.
Sydney Petzinger is ranked second in the 117-pound weight class. Petzinger ended last season in fourth place at the national championships and earned All-American honors. Petzinger held an overall record of 26-2.
Sara Sterner is ranked third in the 131-pound division. Sterner posted a record of 19-9 after finishing fourth with All-American honors at the national tournament.
The 138-pound weight class was the second weight class to have two Cardinal wrestlers ranked in the top ten.
Yele Aycock ranked third after finishing last season as the 136-pound national runner-up, earning a 21-2 record and All-American honors.
Taylor Graveman ranked eighth in the weight class. During her first collegiate season, Graveman earned a 20-6 record. Graveman finished second at the Region IV Championship, qualifying her for the first national tournament.
New to the Cardinal team,
Bella Mir is ranked fifth in the 145-pound weight class. Mir transferred to North Central from the University of Iowa. As a Hawkeye, Mir tallied an overall record of 21-3 and fifth at the national championship last season while earning All-American honors.
With no North Central wrestler ranked in the 160-pound class before the start of the season, the next weight class with a Cardinal wrestler is the 180-pound class.
Brittyn Corbishley ranks third in the 180-pound division. Corbishley finished the national tournament in fifth place with All-American honors, recording an overall season record of 23-3.
Traeh Haynes comes in as the second-ranked wrestler in the 207-pound class. Haynes finished third at the national championship with All-American honors. Last season, Haynes recorded an 18-2 record.
The Cardinals will begin their 2024-25 campaign Nov. 2 at 9 a.m. at the Pointer Open, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Click
