American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 Coaches' Poll
Oct. 14, 2024 - The North Central College football program continues to occupy the No. 1 spot in the NCAA Division III national Top 25 polls released this week by D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).
The Cardinals (5-0, 4-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) posted a 70-14 victory at Millikin University Saturday to claim their 41st consecutive regular-season victory and 37th straight win in CCIW play. North Central defeated the Big Blue for the 19th straight season, scoring at least 50 points in each of the last seven meetings.
The Cardinals received 18 of 25 first-place votes in D3football.com's poll. The State University of New York at Cortland received the remaining seven first-place votes and sits second, followed by Saint John's University (Minnesota), the University of Mount Union (Ohio), Hardin-Simmons University (Texas), the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Grove City College (Pennsylvania), Susquehanna University (Pennsylvania), Salisbury University (Maryland) and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
North Central received 36 of 50 first-place votes in the AFCA's poll. Cortland received 13 first-place votes and occupies the No. 2 position, followed by Mount Union, Saint John's, Hardin-Simmons, Wisconsin-Platteville, Grove City, Susquehanna and Salisbury.
The Cardinals have been ranked No. 1 in the last 27 straight AFCA regular-season polls and 36 of the last 39 D3football.com regular-season polls. North Central hosts North Park University (4-1, 3-1) Saturday on Homecoming Weekend at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
