American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 Coaches' Poll
Oct. 28, 2024 - The North Central College football program retains its No. 1 ranking among all NCAA Division III programs this week, sitting atop the latest national Top 25 polls released by D3football.com and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA).
The Cardinals (7-0, 6-0 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) won their 39th straight game against conference competition Saturday, posting a 49-10 victory at Augustana College to extend their current regular-season winning streak to 43 games.
North Central received 18 of 25 first-place votes in D3football.com's poll. The State University of New York at Cortland received the remaining seven first-place votes and sits second, followed by Saint John's University (Minnesota), the University of Mount Union (Ohio), Hardin-Simmons University (Texas), Salisbury University (Maryland), Susquehanna University (Pennsylvania), the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and DePauw University (Indiana).
North Central received 37 of 50 first-place votes in the AFCA's poll. Cortland received 12 first-place votes and occupies the No. 2 position, followed by Mount Union, Saint John's, Hardin-Simmons, Susquehanna, Salisbury, DePauw, Wisconsin-Platteville and Whitworth University (Washington).
The Cardinals have been ranked No. 1 in the last 29 straight AFCA regular-season polls and 38 of the last 41 D3football.com regular-season polls. North Central looks to record its 31st straight home victory Saturday as it hosts Carroll University (4-3, 3-3 CCIW). Kickoff at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium is scheduled for 12:00 noon.
