Dec. 3, 2024 -
North Central College assistant sports information director Nicholas Osterloo '19/M '21 has been recognized as part of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 30 Under 30 Class of 2024. The 30 Under 30 honor recognizes emerging athletics communication professionals at all levels of college sports in strategic, creative and digital spaces.

This year's 30 Under 30 Class is CSC's third since the introduction of the award in 2022. Representatives come from campus and conference athletic communication departments throughout the United States and Canada. Osterloo is one of two North Central alumni on this year's list, joining Illinois Wesleyan University assistant director of athletic communications Taiah Gallisath '20/M '23.

Osterloo started in the North Central sports information department as a student assistant in 2016 and served as a graduate assistant from 2019 to 2021 before being promoted to assistant director. He has worked with each of the Cardinals' 26 athletic programs during his tenure and currently serves as the primary contact for baseball, women's volleyball, women's basketball, and men's and women's tennis.

He has been instrumental in the ideation, creation and publication of written, visual and creative content used in the promotion of the Cardinals' athletic programs in print, online and digital formats. North Central's athletics website, northcentralcardinals.com, received a record 1.29 million visits in the 2023-2024 academic year. The Cardinals routinely rank among the top 25 NCAA Division III leaders in website traffic and were ranked sixth in October 2024. Osterloo is a core member of the athletic department's Inclusion Team and has oversees the production of a year-round calendar of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging content, including the UBelong social-media series.

In August of 2022, Osterloo joined CSC's Academic All-America committee, assisting with national review for men's soccer, women's soccer, men's track & field, women's basketball and the men's at-large division. Additionally, Osterloo serves as a member of the Young Professionals Committee and has participated in the CSC Mentorship program.

CSC was founded in 1957 and is a 4,400+ member national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.
